I find it ludicrous that the teacher from Walnut Grove is also one of the gossiping hens that created the fiasco with Vranesh. If that type of behavior is what we consider "excellence" in education, then perhaps we should extend it to the entire gossipy group behind the taking out of the principal and other wonderful staff that were forced out by staying true to their convictions. Way to go - reward the offenders. Maybe next year we can give it to the teacher who stole campaign signs? Oh wait, they probably get to nominate each other.

Dear Really ~

As one of several parents who wrote a letter on behalf of someone you have termed a "gossiping hen", I find your comment irresponsible and ignorant. Yes, there has been an extremely unfortunate situation at our school, and lives have been affected. However, there are two sides to every story and the callousness you show in reducing an extraordinarily talented and skilled teacher to an unkind name, and undermining an award that comes because of multitudes of parents writing on her behalf, demonstrates that you have forgotten this. No one knows exactly what happened, but I can assure you that if a situation like this were to occur (and it does EVERY DAY) in a business setting, people's names and reputations would not be up for debate and discussed publicly in an anonymous person's few minutes on a keyboard. It is unfortunate that the Pleasanton Weekly allows anonymous posters to essentially have a forum to write cruel remarks and state their uneducated opinions about our teachers, administrators, and educators (both sides have been dragged through the mud) and have no accountability for it. The Weekly has assisted in further dividing our community.

@Parent

Clearly you do not know them as well as I do. Yes, we remain divided, and YES, we DO know the players involved. I've both seen and heard it myself - something they call a "primary source" in the school.

Calling them "gossiping hens" is unfair. How would you feel if you were in fact a hen? Let's be fair to the hen population and come up with a new comparison. Any suggestions? I have a few, but don't want my comment deleted.

Wow, let's admit who the real mean girls are here! Post after annoymous post full of trash talk, tire slashing, car damage-what's next? One thing you all have made clear- the harrassment continues-seeing as you are so blind to the actions you display, I can see how you would be supporting a principal who behaved the same way.

This post is to congratulate amazing teachers in our district. I commend you all for the dedication and professionalism you show every day, even in the face of the unbelievable treatment some in this community give you. I hope you can see past these very few bullies and realize that there are thousands of parents in this community who are beyond grateful for the amazing talent in this district.

Dear Really ~

You have missed the point of my post. These teachers have dedicated their lives and careers to the children in our school and community. They have inspired literally thousands of our children's lives in multiple ways and for every one of those children, families will stand behind these teachers. The personnel (and personal) issues that have happened at Walnut Grove should not be up for public debate in a forum such as this. To demean a teacher in the way you have is just plain cruel. Even though the Pleasanton Weekly provides this cowardly way of bullying people (again both sides have been affected), doesn't mean it is right.

You may see our school as divided, but I see inspiring teachers, families, and students. I am proud of our school.

Sounds like a very Union set of limitations on this award - "if you're a kickass teacher we want to award you only 1 time in 5 years so all the other faculty get a chance to win". It would be one thing if a teacher stayed with the same class through their development, but they usually get a new set of students and parents every year. Consistent demonstrated performance is huge, why not let those teachers be recognized continuously?
