Festive crowds fill the streets and concert halls at this time of year, a favorite part of the season for many.
* A holiday DancEscape social with music by Lady K and the Kings of Swing will be held from 7-10 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 12, at the Dublin Senior Center, 7600 Amador Valley Blvd. Tickets in advance are $10 for Dublin resident seniors; $12 for non-residents/under 50; or $13 at the door. Call 556-4511.
* Cantabella Children’s Chorus Winter Concert, “Make We Merry,” training choirs and selected pieces by performing choirs at 1 p.m., performing choirs at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 4001 Stoneridge Drive. Adults are $18 in advance at cantabella.org, $20 at the door; under 18 free.
* Valley Concert Chorale’s “Holiday Classic & Contemporary” is 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1225 Hopyard Road; and at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, at First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and L streets, Livermore. * Livermore Valley Opera will present “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” a one-act opera about a disabled boy and his mother who are visited by the three kings on their way to Bethlehem, at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at First Presbyterian Church, 2020 Fifth St. in Livermore. The annual family favorite will be “in the round,” with the audience seated on three sides and begin with a sing-along of carols. Tickets are $12 students, $20 adults if purchased by Dec. 1. * The Pleasanton Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting the community to attend the 20th annual performance of its Youth Choir and Bell Choir at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Pleasanton Stake Center, 6100 Paseo Santa Cruz in Pleasanton. The concert will feature youths from Amador Valley, Foothill and Dublin high Schools. A special string quartet from Hart Middle School will also perform. The event is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
* The Fr. John C. Murphy Council of the Knights of Columbus in Dublin will hold a free Christmas breakfast Sunday, Dec. 14, at St Raymond’s Moran Hall, 11555 Shannon Ave. Representatives of 10 organizations will be presented with $2,000 checks.

Shepherd’s Gate, Hope Hospice, Livermore Homeless Refuge, St. Mary’s Center, The Volunteers of VA Livermore, TriValley Haven, The George Mark Children’s House, Catholic Charities of the East Bay, St Vincent De Paul Dining Facility and Get on The Bus, an organization that brings children and their guardians from throughout the state to visit their parents in prison.
* Ravenswood Victorian Yuletide, 12-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14. A Victorian Christmas with music, entertainment, carriage ride, food, crafts and more at Ravenswood Historic Site, 2647 Arroyo Road, Livermore. Free admission.

* Niles Canyon Railway Train of Lights departs from Niles at 4:30 p.m. and Sunol at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the holiday season (except Christmas Eve). The train is covered with thousands of lights as it winds through Niles Canyon on a 75-minute round-trip ride. General seating is $25; $17 on Wednesdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Dome car is $40. * Trinity Church, 557 Olivina Avenue, Livermore, will present its traditional Christmas story presentation of the birth of Jesus Christ through six scenes assembled on the church grounds with live actors and animals. The Live Drive-Through Nativity story will be presented four nights, Dec. 18-21 at Visitors drive.
Motorists can listen to the story dialog on their car radios while viewing live actors and animals portraying the characters in each scene. This is the 24th year of the drive-through event.
