Water treatment plant receives award for outstanding performance

Zone 7 Water Agency's commitment to water quality recognized

Zone 7 Water Agency's Del Valle water treatment plant received a "Directors Award of Recognition" from the Partnership of Safe Water for 15 consecutive years.

Zone 7 Water Agency provides water resources and flood control to the Livermore-Amador Valley, as well as selling treated water to Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and a part of San Ramon.

The agency has recognized for successfully maintaining phase III of the Partnership program -- the phase includes an evaluation of treatment plant operations and performance, identification of performance-limiting factors, and the development of action plans.

"We are honored to receive this award," said Zone 7 General Manager Jill Duerig. "Our utility's goal is to continually strive to optimize operations and produce the best possible water for our customers. Achievement of the Directors Award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting public health by providing consistent treatment and high-quality water."

According to Zone 7's announcement Thursday, only 30 water utilities across the country have received this recognition since the program started in 1997.

The program was developed to help water suppliers towards improving water quality by optimizing system operations.
