The Pleasanton school board will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday to appoint a new vice-principal.

Once convened, the board is expected to adjourn for a closed door meeting to discuss the appointment and also discuss and vote on “the appointment, employment, evaluation of performance, discipline/release, or dismissal of a public employee” and “significant exposure to litigation in 1 potential case.”

The public can comment on closed session items at the special board meeting’s opening ceremony at 8 a.m.

Any action taken in closed session will be reported at the open meeting, starting at 9:30 a.m. During that part of the meeting, the board’s consent agenda includes the approval of the salary schedule modification for the Association of Pleasanton Teachers employees.

The tentative agreement between PUSD and APT was approved by the board on June 17.

According to the tentative agreement, the 2013-14 salary schedule for APT has increased by 2%, effective July 1.

Community comments can be made at the open meeting, but only for those items on the posted agenda.

Thursday’s meeting will take place in the district boardroom at 4665 Bernal Ave.

  1. An 8 AM closed session meeting? This is ridiculous.

How can any member of the public expect or parent expect to be able to show at 8 AM to comment on an across the board pay raise for all teachers and whatever hidden items are on the PUSD closed session agenda?

The superintendent and board all need to go.

  2. And is this vice principal apptmt. again going to be friend, acquaintance of the superintendent? Much, too much secrecy going on within PUSD……HM-m-m!

  3. As the agenda indicates they will be discussing the potential lawsuit by Jon Vranesh. To those who feel the current School Board is bad or incompetent, you will recall they all ran unopposed at the last election. So, put your complaints where your mouth is and run for the Board if you feel you can do a better job.

  4. I would hope “the appointment, employment, evaluation of performance, discipline/release, or dismissal of a public employee” concerns the D.O. administrators whose ruthless behavior constitutes a covert public menace.
