Woman hiker groped, fondeled on bike path in Robertson Park

Livermore police said today that they're investigating whether a sexual battery on a woman who was walking in Robertson Park last Friday

evening is connected to a series of attacks that have happened to female walkers and joggers over the last seven years.

Police said an adult woman was walking along the bike path in Robertson Park between the Rodeo Arena and Arroyo Road at about 5:48 p.m. last Friday while listening to music on headphones when she was approached from behind by a male suspect.

The suspect wrapped his arms around the woman's upper chest and shoulder area and sexually battered her while holding her, police said.

The woman was then was able to break free from the suspect's grasp and escape, according to police.

Authorities said the man is possibly Hispanic and is about 5-foot-8, weighs about 180 pounds and is between 30 and 40 years old.

Police said that between 2007 and 2014 there were about eight incidents in Livermore in which female joggers or walkers who were alone were sexually battered while wearing headphones.

Other law enforcement agencies have reported similar incidents, authorities said.

Livermore police said they advise people to walk and or jog in pairs and warned people to be extra vigilant, especially when wearing ear buds.

Livermore police said they are seeking the community's assistance in locating and identifying the suspect in the incident last Friday and anyone who saw it or has information about it should call them at (925) 371-4762.

Love the decoy idea! And William Tell - What does Oakland have to do with this?! This is a very scary situation that could easily happen anywhere in Pleasanton too. Buddy system ladies! Always be alert and when all else fails taser him!

Broad daylight? Okay I know it is waaaayyyy over in Livermore, but 2 things.

1st Take mace and or know self defense when you are out and about.

2-This "person" will strike again and the victim(s)may not be so fortunate.

3- I have never been to that park, but looking at the bike trail, via sat image on google. It looks very desolate. It was probably staked out by the creep.
