It's official! Foss is now Dublin's City Manager

Linda Smith also promoted as Pattillo retires

Chris Foss has assumed the position officially of City Manager of Dublin, with the corresponding appointment of Linda Smith as assistant city manager.

Both have been serving in those roles in an interim basis pending the official retirement this week of City Manager Joni Pattillo, who had served 25 years in local government.

Foss began serving as acting city manager after Pattillo left the office last December, with the Dublin City Council voting 5-0 to name him to the permanent post when Pattillo's retirement became affective April 26 after she used up accrued leave time.

Foss is the city's third City Manager since Dublin was incorporated as a city 32 years ago.

Once in his new position permanently, Foss named Smith as assistant city manager. She had been the city's economic development and communications director and also had worked in similar positions worked in both Brentwood and Tracy,

"Over the past five years, Linda has been an invaluable member of the city's executive team, leading our efforts to rebuild the city's economic base and to increase our communication with residents and businesses," said City Manager Chris Foss.

Smith also has extensive experience in the private sector as a communications and marketing executive for emerging technology companies in the Silicon Valley, as well as on branding and communication campaigns for companies such as Levi Strauss, Visa, Bank of America and the Clorox Company.
