Dublin officials will join business leaders today at a 10 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony for Persimmon Place, a new open-air retail center across from Hacienda Crossings that will include Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack and Homegoods.
The shopping center will be located at corner of Hacienda Drive and Martinelli Way in Dublin, where Whole Foods had planned to build its store several years ago, but the project was shelved during the economic downturn.
Regency Centers Corporation, a national owner and operator of grocery-anchored neighborhood shopping centers, acquired the site and is now starting construction.
"We are ecstatic to welcome Persimmon Place to our community," said Mayor Tim Sbranti. "This center will offer the upscale, high-quality retail choices that residents of Dublin want and expect, and we couldn't be more pleased with the progress being made on this development."
Sbranti, who just returned from a trip to Washington, D.C., will be joined at the groundbreaking ceremony by Pete Knoedler, senior vice president of investments at Regency Centers.
"Persimmon Place will be an exceptional center serving a dynamic community," Knoedler said. "We look forward to watching this development progress and sharing in the excitement of local residents."
