Swalwell to discuss immigration reform at Hayward meeting tomorrow

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin5) will host an immigration forum for constituents in Hayward Saturday to provide information and answer questions about reforming the country's immigration laws. Representatives from immigration-based community organizations in the East Bay will be in attendance. Swalwell is advocating for reform that will provide a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented workers in the country, permit high-skilled workers educated in the U.S. to obtain visas to work here and allow families to reunite in the U.S. The event will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. at 27287 Patrick Ave., Hayward.

He's speaking in Hayward. That's because he's afraid to speak in the Tri-Valley area.

Mr. Swalwell, please just follow the current immigrant laws. The current immigrantion law is fine the way it is. You are not a recent immigrant like my family, whose parents waited for years to be qualified. That's why you don't understand the political, financial and health impact this has to the country.

When you allow the illegal immigrants who bring their children in to the path of citizenship, you are discriminating those who came in legally. Similar to other countries in the world, this country should select who we should bring in: professionals, educated, people who love this country, real political refugees. Why are we allowing criminals to enter the country legally, and who will benefit the country. You are rewarding criminals who entered the country illegally. They need to be sent back at their expense, plus all the benefits they stole from the American people, the tax payer. You are not a good political. Good politicians protect this country.

Our family, just like the other legal immigrants, had to pass criminal, health and political verifications before we enter the country. Anothe qualification was, we have to guarantee to the US gov't we are financially independent for 5 years. Even though we had a lot of adjustments to be made when we first came to this country, we never relied on the government. My parents had to work 1.5 to 2 jobs, in order to make ends meet (rent, food, etc). We love the country. We work hard. My parents own their own home, as well as all of us.

I do wonder what the babbling poster means when he claims of Salwell, "He's afraid to speak in the Tri-Valley area."

The USA will NEVER be able to completely control the flow of immigrants to this country.

Nothing can stop it...it's too late.

i don't care that it's too late to control illegal entry into the USA...

if the usual openings are plugged...determined individuals/various groups will find a way to enter illegally...end of story

'Concerned' I'm sorry that you have to witness the dismantling of our once great nation and the selective enforcement (or in this case non-enforcement) of laws that every sovereign country requires. I'm sure this is not the American Dream you struggled to attain.

People like Homer are not representative of the majority of law abiding legal residents of our area. He knows full well that Swalwell chose Hayward for his speech about the Dem party abdication of our country because of the large percentage of illegal mexicans that are being harbored there. He tries to play dumb, but he's really not playing...

Perhaps some of you will dare to venture out of Pleasanton to attend the Town Hall meeting in Hayward. They are very informative. You can hear what he has to say, ask questions, and express your opinions to him directly. Yes, there are many immigrant families in Hayward who'd like to become citizens legally, so Mr . Swalwell is right to hold the meeting there. I am impressed with Swalwell so far--he seems to be working really hard for people.

I've paid taxes and I entered the USA as a political refugee.

It's important to respect the law in the US...that means you to.

If you don't wish to pay your fair share of taxes, may I kindly suggest that you take up the matter with the IRS. Whomever you're trying to reach on this blog may also agree you must pay your fair share taxes or please, go back to where you and your family came from. We don't need any more lifers like you or your family in our country. The law is the law. If you're unhappy, as you seem to be, then work to change our laws and stop whining.

i rest my case...
