New principal named for Amador Valley High School

Tom Drescher has been principal at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley for last 5 years

Tom Drescher has been named the new principal of Amador Valley High School, succeeding Jim Hansen, who is retiring.

Drescher served for five years as the principal at Tamalpais High School in the Tamalpais Union High School District in Mill Valley from 2008-2013. He also served as assistant principal (also at Tamalpais High School) during the 2007-08 school year.

Prior to his administrative positions, Drescher served as a high school counselor, head counselor, and guidance director for eight years. He began his career in education as a special education teacher for five years in New York state.

Drescher has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the State University of New York, a Master's in Counselor Education from Canisius College, a Catholic college in western New York State, and his administrative credential from UC Riverside. He is currently completing work on a doctorate degree in education at San Francisco State University.
