A fire in a large commercial structure north of San Ramon used to store heavy machinery destroyed over $200,000 of the building’s contents, a fire chief said.

The fire at 18722 Bollinger Canyon Road in a rural area of unincorporated Contra Costa County was reported at 4:24 p.m., San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Richard Price said.

The one-story structure covers about 4,000 square feet and is used to house heavy machinery like tractors and construction equipment, Price

said.

Two businesses used the facility, a construction company and a home improvement company.

Firefighters contained the two-alarm fire in about 30 minutes, but not before an estimated $200,000 of the building’s contents were destroyed.

There is no estimate yet on the damage to the structure itself.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was around the building when it caught fire, and there were no injuries, Price said.
