McNerney to hold 'Congress at Your Corner' event here Friday

65th one-on-one discussion meeting held by congressman

Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) will hold a "Congress at Your Corner" discussion from 2-3 p.m. Friday at the Pleasanton public library.

"I'm firmly committed to being accessible to the people I represent," McNerney stated in a press release. "Over the past four years, I've held dozens of these events and always enjoy the opportunity to hear directly from the people I represent. I encourage people to come share their thoughts and ideas with me."

The event on Friday will mark the 65th Congress at Your Corner hosted by McNerney. Hundreds of people have attended these events to share their opinions and ask for assistance resolving issues with a federal agency.

At this Congress at Your Corner Rep. McNerney will meet with small groups of people in 30 minute segments based on the order in which they arrive.

The Pleasanton Library is located at 400 Old Bernal Ave.

Mr. McNerney is to be commended for his commitment to accessibility to the people he represents in this district, especially in light of the violence in Arizona at an event hosted by his colleague.

What??? McNerney is FINALLY leaving the confines of his safe and secure "telephone town hall meeting"?? And he's coming out to meet the little people for a WHOLE HOUR. Wow..he's an amazing man.

McNerney's events are choreographed, people are screened, and only those who will ask the easy questions are able to gain access. Jerry needs to be in Congress at Washington DC working on cutting spending.

Consistent with his other pathetic "Congress at Your Corner" meetings, note they are held in small locations. One I attended was between aisles at a hardware store and the other was at an extremely small coffee shop.

Also, he holds "whisper sessions" where only one person can go to him and ask questions outside of earshot from others. His responses to the individual questioner deliberately cannot be heard by others.

He is an absolute spineless socialist joke of a (mis)representative.

We pay his salary...so WE should be the one's dictating the format of these meetings!!! We all need to hear the questions of others and we should hear his answers as well!!!

Remember he is strongly supported by the SEIU who are now out in the open as being a brotherhood organization of the American Communist Party.

McNerney is contributing to the destruction of America's economy. He must be defeated next election.

I was at a well-attended debate between McNerney and Harmer. McNerney supporters out-numbered Harmer's by at least two to one. McNerney did an outstanding job, despite a bunch of white, blue-haired, veiny-cheeked oldsters who kept interrupting at inappropriate times because they were unable to follow the thread of the arguments. McNerney's supporters consisted of youth and working-class people, along with people of color who were not to be found on the Harmer side, anywhere. The country is changing despite the uneducated, prejudiced oldsters who just can't bring themselves to remove their rapidly decaying bodies from the road.

Hey Salish...I was also at that same event.
You are right, McNerney's "supporters" outnumbered Harmer's. Big deal. Most of McNerney's supporters were (rent-a-mob) union members. All McNerney had to say at that event was...

1) That he would "PUNISH" American corporations for outsourcing jobs to other countries. (On that note, corporations have to remain competitive or they will fail. So McNerney wants to FORCE corporations to be "uncompetitive" which will increase their chances of failure anyway!!! Hey McNerney...keep your filty hands off the private sector and let them alone! YOUR ACTIONS ARE DESTROYING BUSINESS IN AMERICA!!!)

2) McNerney also said that he would continue to SPEND, SPEND, SPEND government funds (WHICH WE DON'T HAVE)...thus FURTHER INCREASING OUR DEBT!!! WE ARE GOING UNDER McNERNEY, THANKS TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!!

And yes, salish...there were some senior citizens on the Harmer side. Do you have a problem with that? I know McNerney wants us to face the Obamacare Death Panel squad at some point.

Salish...keep on criticizing the oldsters...you are revealing how much the marxist Democrats hate those like us.

McNerney is coming here, to talk to you, in a public forum, about your issues, and all you can do is whine and complain. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Get educated on the issues (Death Panels, really?), get down to the library and participate! You have no right to moan and blame others if you don't participate.
See you there!

" Hey McNerney...keep your filty hands off the private sector and let them alone!"

Hilarious. Harmer wants you to keep your hands off the private sector all the way up until his employer needs a government bailout!!! Then it is A-OK. Too funny. Privatize profits and socialize risk.

Hmmm, I can't remember just now! How many of these in-person "meet and greet" events did our representative Mr. McNerney hold during the days of the Healthcare Bill debate? Oh, wait, I think there were NONE.

BTW, have you ever noticed that the PW "Editor" postings regarding Mr. McNerney are usually followed within minutes by a glowing report of what a great guy Jerry is and how lucky we are to have him as our representative. What an interesting coincidence.

I've no problem with the white, rich, elderly diaper crowd set whatsoever. It's when they're too senile or uneducated to follow an argument that I get the heebee-jeebees. That and a 4 year-old's unwillingness to share one's rattle with others. Death panels, eh? Such a stupifying level of ignorance is almost beyond the imaginable. Get thee to a graveyard as soon as possible; it's there you'll best serve this nation.

And another thing...
HOW GENEROUS it is for our representative ruler...Mr. McNerney...to afford a FULL HOUR of his extremely precious time to his constituents! One full hour! Wow! (Not)...

If he is consistent with his past events, he'll show up late...and then filibuster one-on-one with a couple constituents who love what he has done for our Veterans (e.g. a 'controversial' topic like 'apple pie'). At the end of his precious "Congress at your Corner" he'll have spoken to 6 people one-on-one. Then he'll leave precisely on the hour.

So his checklist item of "meet with constituents" will now be checked off.

Wise up people. He doesn't give a rip about you or your opinions. He votes 99% with his socialist/communist democrat party.

We will still be faced with McNerney vs. America and the U.S. Constitution.

Hey Republicans/Tea-Party Members,

Remember all meet-and-greets your hero Richard Pombo held in Pleasanton? I'm sorry, I forgot, he barely ever set foot in Pleasanton let alone meet with his constituents! McNerney, on the other hand, meet with more Pleasanton citizens in his first year in office than Pombo did during his entire time in office. I guess Pombo was too busy clearing brush on his ranch. Funny how you have new standards regarding accessabitly when it comes to a democrat.
