Swearing-in ceremonies tonight for re-elected Mayor Hosterman, City Council members Thorne, Cook-Kallio

All three starting their final terms as council sees same 5 for 2011-12 sessions

Mayor Jennifer Hosterman and City Council members Cheryl Cook-Kallio and Jerry Thorne will be sworn into office tonight after winning re-election November 2.

All three will start the final terms of office, with Hosterman having been re-elected to a fourth-two-year term as mayor and Cook-Kallio and Thorne to four-year terms. Hosterman will be termed out in 2012; the two council members in 2014.

They will join fellow council members Cindy McGovern and Matt Sullivan, who are serving their second four-year terms of office and will be termed out in 2012.

The swearing in, to be handled by City Clerk Karen Diaz, will follow an official proclamation by the Alameda County Registrar's office certifying the results of the Nov. 2 election.

Thorne led in total votes received, finishing with 10,683 votes, or 33.4% of the total number of votes cast in the City Council race. Cook-Kallio received 8,971 votes. Two others were unsuccessful in their bids for council seats. Realtor Karla Brown received 8,511 votes, and Fred Watson trailed with 3,770 votes.

A public reception for the mayor and re-elected council members will be held starting at 5:45 tonight, followed by the swearing-in ceremonies at the start of tonight's City Council meeting at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center, 200 Old Bernal Ave.

It was a great time at the reception. Got to see people that I had not seen in years like Dolores Bengtson, Mark Sweeney, Art Dunkley and others. It was like stepping back in time. Cheryl looked radiant, Jerry looked dapper and Jennifer, well, Jennifer looked physically sore:-) Pleasanton is such a great place.

Best wishes to everyone for their holiday season.

Now I have to figure out the code at the bottom of the page:-)

Sorry I missed the occasion but found out a day late. As a supporter of all those elected, I would have been there.
