Alyssa Frantozzi died after her Honda became trapped under big-rig

The Alameda County coroner's bureau today identified a 22-year-old woman killed in a crash on Interstate Highway 580 Tuesday afternoon.

Alyssa Nicole Frantozzi, of San Ramon, died after her Honda became trapped under the right rear tires of big-rig on eastbound I-580 just east of Grove Way in unincorporated Hayward, California Highway Patrol spokesman officer Rob Tuazon said.

The 12:10 p.m. crash also involved a Toyota 4Runner. That driver was not seriously injured. The big-rig driver was unhurt.

Frantozzi was wearing her seatbelt, Tuazon said.

The CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

From the article, she sounds like she was a wonderful young woman. Such a tragedy. My prayers for her family and friends.

very sorry to read this news posting. it is not fair that this happens to a young driver. I think we all are lucky that nothing happened to us our first few years of driving even if we were safe drivers. the road is very dangerous especially around big rigs.

About 43,000 people a year in the U.S. are killed in car crashes.
