Two charter schools in Livermore–Livermore Valley Charter Preparatory High School (LVCP) and Livermore Valley Charter School (LVCS)—are offering a public preview today of their future campuses in Livermore.

Teachers, students, and administrators at the two schools will host the public tour with a free barbecue and open house at 3188 Constitution Drive. The founders of Tassajara Prep, the public college preparatory high school coming to Dublin in 2012, will also be there to provide updates on the Tassajara Prep charter petition in person. The party will start at 11 a.m. and include activities for the entire family, such as jump houses for the kids, face painting, a bocce ball tournament, and more.

KKIQ (FM 101.7) will be broadcasting on location from noon until 2 p.m. when the festivities conclude.

Last Sunday, the Tri-Valley Learning Corporation (TVLC) directors agreed to purchase sites on Montevina Drive for the new campuses. Construction of Montevina Site One has been completed for some time, but Montevina Site Two is not yet developed.

In addition to the Montevina deal, the TVLC Board of Directors also approved the Letter of Intent for a Lease Purchase Agreement for the Independence Plaza building located at 3090 Independence Drive, adjacent to the Montevina Sites. TVLC is the same not-for-profit organization that will be leading the Tassajara Prep charter petition to the State Board of Education for approval later this year.

TLVC said it is taking advantage of today’s favorable financing conditions and the current slump in the commercial real-estate market to acquire these permanent facilities and provide a secure and enhanced learning environment for their students.
