Pleasanton Concert band offers free concert today in Livermore

Noontime performance will feature variety of music from composers of last two centuries

The Pleasanton Community Concert Band will play a variety of music from noon to 4 p.m. today at a free concert at the Ravenswood Historic Site, 2647 Arroyo Rd., Livermore.

Bud Engel, vice president of the band, said the music will be from both the 19th and 20th centuries.

"The Band will be playing a salute to the centennial of compositions by Chopin and Robert Schumann," Engel said. "Guest clarinetist Joe Bonfiglio will play a clarinet concerto. "

Additional selections will honor the 200th Anniversary of composer Otto Nicolai, patriotic songs, oldies, pops and marches, he added.
