Two fundraisers to benefit great causes this weekend

Pleasanton Community Band will perform at an old-fashioned ice cream social from noon-4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Ravenswood Historic Site, 2647 Arroyo Rd., Livermore. The band will play a variety of musical styles appropriate for the 1800s and 1900s. Call 846-9497. Also, Museum On Main will host a fundraiser event "Brothels, Bar Rooms and Bandits" tomorrow night from 7-11 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd. Go back in time to 1890 when Pleasanton was a "desperate" town and enjoy dinner, gambling and entertainment in the 1890s "saloon" as a guest of Sen. George Hearst and his wife Phoebe. Cost $40, including dinner. Call 462-2766 or visit www.museumonmain.org.
