Cooler today with a high temperature of just 79 degrees

But Weather Service predicts warmer days ahead with high 80s for weekend

Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley are expected to be sunny but cooler today with a high temperature of just 79 degrees by mid-day. Variable winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected.

Tonight the Tri-Valley is expected to be clear, with low clouds developing overnight. A low temperature of 51 degrees and variable winds of 5 to 10 mph are anticipated.

For Thursday, the Tri-Valley is expected to be mostly sunny and warmer with a high temperature of 84 degrees by mid-day and variable winds of 10 to 20 mph.

Warmer days are expected to continue with the National Weather Service forecasting temperatures in the high 80s for the weekend and well into next week.

Even so, that's well below the record set for July 28 in 1980 when the temperature in the Tri-Valley reached 106 degrees.
