Armed robber hits Check N Go on Hopyard

Flees on chrome-colored bicycle before police arrive

A man with a gun held up the Check N Go store at 2755 of Hopyard Road yesterday afternoon and took an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

An employee at the store, which makes payday loans or cash advances, called police at approximately 3:45 p.m. He said the man displayed a handgun before taking the money and fleeing on a chrome-colored bicycle.

Numerous police officers with a canine searched the area but without results.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, 5 foot 5 inches to 5 foot 7 inches tall, 20-25 years old with a thin build. He was wearing a tan baseball-style hat, green shirt, tan cargo shorts and green shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 931-5100.

Great description of the suspect. That narrows it down to about half of a billion people.

Hispanic????!! A little more description would be nice... Has politically correctness gotten to the point that criminals are going to get away because the witnesses are afraid to state the race of the perp?? Is he mexican, spanish ( as in Spain), portugese, Brazilian?!

What is happening to Pleasanton? When did Pleasanton get a check cashing facility? Sounds like p-town is going ghetto! The old timers of Pleasanton need to take back their community and throw the trash out.

@ confused: I don't think it's an issue with PC, but rather the average person not being able to identify someone like that. I can imagine a scene playing out now...

-suspect flees-

Person A: He was hispanic
Person B: Excuse me, come out from under your rock, that person was clearly Puerto Rican
Person C: I think he was Chilean.

...Hispanic..It's an encompassing term.
