PMS Concert band earns top honors at Music in the Arts Festival

School's symphonic band and orchestra also earns statewide superior ratings

The Pleasanton Middle School Concert Band earned top honors at the Music in the Parks Festival earlier this month at Great America.

The Concert Band earned 1st place in its division (Middle School Class AA) with a Superior rating, and also took overall top Concert Band among all middle school groups in all divisions, according to Joanna Gauthier, band spokeswoman.

The Concert Band, as well as the Pleasanton Middle School Symphonic Band and Orchestra, also earned Superior ratings at the California Music Educator's Association Festival a week earlier, an event that was hosted by the middle school.

The music department is under the direction of Jason Ravina, who is in his third year at Pleasanton Middle School.
