Garamendi seeks technology transfer centers between Sandia, Livermore lab with private sector

Congressman to introduce bill for Livermore Valley Open Campus today

Congressman John Garamendi (D-Walnut Creek) will introduce a bill today that would establish centers at two local national laboratories to facilitate research transfers between the labs and the private sector.

The bill would establish technology transfer centers at Lawrence

Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.

Ultimately the bill's authors and supporters hope to establish the

Livermore Valley Open Campus, which would enable collaboration between the national labs, private sector and universities.

The bill will be introduced at 11 a.m. at Las Positas College,

3000 Campus Hill Drive, Livermore. The ceremony will take place in the quad in front of the library.

Garamendi will be joined by the director of Lawrence Livermore

National Laboratory and Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti.
