Like mother, like daughter

Tie votes for the winners of our Mother's Day look-alike contest

Two Pleasanton mothers and their daughters have won top honors in the Pleasanton Weekly's annual mother-daughter look-alike contest.

The winners are being announced today both in the newspaper's print edition and here online in celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday.

In the first tie since the contest began, Realtor Sheila Cross and her daughter Cassie received the same number of votes from our readers as Sangita Patel and her daughter Avni. Cassie, 14, is a freshman at Foothill High School. Avni, 10, attends Hearst Elementary School where she is in the fourth grade.

Readers voted online for the mother-daughter pair among 16 entries that best resembled each other.

"You look just like your mother!" is something all mothers like to hear someone say to their daughters. And many daughters like it, too.

Each winning mother-daughter pair will receive $100 gift certificates for Strizzi's restaurants.

Close runners-up were Leslie Morissey and her daughter Kealy, who is in the second grade at Frederiksen Elementary in Dublin.

Watch the Pleasanton Weekly for an announcement about the start of the next Mother's Day contest next April. In the meantime, our thanks to the 970 readers who voted this year. Have a happy Mother's Day!
