Burglary suspects arrested after woman finds them in her home

Two men were arrested Tuesday afternoon on burglary charges after a woman reportedly caught them in the act in her home in the 400 block of Deerhill Drive.

Jonathan Botterff, a 26-year-old Pleasanton man, and Steven Gill, a 27-year-old Clayton man, were charged with strong arm robbery, burglary and possession of stolen property.

The woman reportedly called 911 around 2 p.m. saying she had surprised two intruders upon returning home. Police said she struggled with one of the men, who punched her in the face before fleeing in a green Ford Explorer. The woman wasn't injured from the assault, police said.

County sheriff's deputies located the vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 680 and stopped the suspects on Rudgear Road in Walnut Creek. There the deputies reportedly found stolen property from the home in the vehicle. The woman later positively identified both suspects.

The suspects were booked at Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez, according to police. Records show that Botterff is on probation for possession of stolen property and Gill is on parole for burglary.
