Tri-Valley Animal Rescue staging pet adoption program starting today

Three-day promotion part of national effort to place homeless pets in local homes

With the goal of saving the lives of homeless pets through adoption, the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue organization based in Dublin will take part in the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Event, which runs today through Sunday at the PetSmart store in Dublin.

Prospective adopters can find a pet from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue during the special program from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

It's a national effort with the Animal Rescue service and related agencies hoping to place 18,500, cats and small animals from local shelters across North America into loving new homes.

"With so many shelters and rescue groups filled to capacity, this event gives animal-welfare organizations the chance to find much-needed homes for pets in need and save lives," said Susana Della Maddalena, executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc. "We are proud to work with so many dedicated shelters and rescue groups on this exciting event, and we sincerely hope that it helps them save the lives of even more pets in their care."

In the U.S. alone, an estimated 6-8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters annually, but about half of them never find homes. During the last 15 years, the PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers in the U.S. and Canada have found homes for more than 4 million pets.

The Tri-Valley Animal Rescue is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to end the unnecessary euthanasia of homeless animals. The organization cooperates with area shelters and rescue groups, primarily the East

County Animal Shelter in Dublin to provide homeless animals with socialization, foster homes, medical care, and the opportunity for another chance.
