How many Farmer's Markets does Pleasanton need? It's hard to beat Saturday's downtown market whether you need fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade jams and sauces, nuts, gifts (soaps, lavender etc.) knife sharpening, fudge and even a variety of flowers including orchids. Saturday's market also has entertainment and is a great place to meet friends and enjoy the "small town" atmosphere. Let's keep our downtown vibrant and support our "local" market on Saturdays.

I went there on a recent Sunday. Nice weather, no crowded parking lot, perfect conditions. There were a total of 6 booths set up and 1 -- yeah, just 1 ! -- person there to shop. The produce vendor had apples and one other thing, there was a popcorn guy and a couple of others. What a joke! No competition at all to the great market downtown on Saturdays.

I loved the Farmers Market at the mall when it started. As time went on, they were not supported well enough, so I'm sure many vendors have moved on. There is a cost to be there for a vendor, and if it's not profitable, what's the point. I wish everyone on this north side of town would support them. It saves gas to shop closer to home. It gives us options other than just Saturday. I love being able to start the weekend with fresh produce on fridays. Those mini-donuts were to die for! Also, the Indian restaurant from Watsonville had fantastic food. So, the Farmers Market had lots more than just great produce. Parking was so easy too! The Farmers Market has reasonably priced produce that is fresh, better than most grocery stores around here! Support the Farmer's Market at the mall!
