Small fire in Del Valle Regional Park late yesterday quickly extinguished

Blaze spotted on rural trail near Arroyo, Wetmore roads

Firefighters quickly contained a three-acre grass fire in Del Valle Regional Park just south of Livermore Tuesday afternoon, an Alameda County fire spokeswoman said.

The fire was reported on a rural trail near Arroyo Road and Wetmore Road south of Livermore at around 3:30 p.m., fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said. Approximately three acres burned before the blaze was contained at around 10 p.m.

Steep slopes and unusually hot and dry weather conditions prompted a quick response by air and ground units from Cal Fire, Alameda County Fire and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

Approximately fifty firefighters responded and kept the fire from spreaading. No structures were damaged and there were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
