Art League hosts reception today for museum artwork show

'Imagination Expressed 2009' features exhibits, workshops by local artists

A free public reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. today at the Museum On Main in downtown Pleasanton by artists exhibiting in the "Imagination Expressed 2009" show that runs through Sept. 13.

Sponsored by the Pleasanton Art League, the show opened Friday at the museum, which is located at 603 Main Street. Artwork will be available for sale.

Over the course of the exhibit, PAL members will present several demonstrations and workshops. Weekday programs will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. between Wednesday and Friday, and weekend programs from 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.

Participating artists include Charlotte Severin, watercolor; Susan Blake; photography; Nancy Briemle, baskets & textiles; Judi Caplan, watercolor; Rhonda Chase, jewelry, ceramics & mixed media; Clancy Crew, mixed media; Patricia Crew, watercolor; Anne Emery, watercolor & dimensional textiles; Louise Gibler, oil, and Lawrence Gipson, sculpture & watermedia.

Also participating are Sally Haig, acrylic; Glenyse Henschel, oil; Kathleen Hill, oil; Carole Hilton, photography; Angela Johal, oil; Gina Kaiper, oil; Bonnie Krichbaum, watercolor and pastel; Tricia Poulos-Leonard, watermedia; Amy Leung, oil; Mary Lloyd, oil, and Dorothy Maestas, watercolor.

The show also features Claudette McDermott, oil; Kent Moore, sculpture; Bonnie Rathjen, fabric collage tapestry; Gail Ruvalcaba, ceramic & natural materials; Linda Jeffery Sailors, watercolor; Pat Smith, watercolor; James Stone, photography; Kelly Stone, photography; Justin Trent, photography; Alka Vaidya, watercolor; Norma Webb, oil; Lily Xu, watercolor & mixed media, and Eugenia Zobel, porcelain.
