Sad news on a Saturday morning.

Doesn't the non-disclosure of information prior to notifying next of kin include the victim's name?

Well, the story didn't say that the next of kin hadn't been notified, just that there was no further info. The two other stories I saw online (Mercury News and Contra Costa Times) also identified the victim.

The *original* story posted here did say "pending notification of next of kin". I read that phrase, as did Mike. You'll note that Mike's comment was posted before the timestamp that's now there for the story, "Read the full story here Web Link posted Monday, July 27, 2009, 7:08 AM".

I wish the PW wouldn't do this; if they modify or update an article, they should retain the original timestamp and then indicate when it was updated. Most of the time they do that, but it seems that when they want to quietly correct a slip-up in reporting, they don't.

It seems that so many argue for that sake of an argument here!

My DEEPEST condolences go out to the family of this man.

This was the Mike that did work as a social service worker. I thought it was a Mike I went to Foothill with.

The Contra Costa County coroner's office reported Sunday that Michael Rose, 46, of Pleasanton, was the driver killed in a collision early Saturday morning that blocked most of Interstate Highway 680 in Danville for two hours.

Graham-Hitch Mortuary said he worked in social services and details about the services will be announced when confirmed.

Next of kin was notified a few hours after the accident. Please stop arguing over a moot mistake in an article. Pray for solace for the family.
