Funeral services are pending for Michael Rose, 46, a Pleasanton social worker who was killed early last Saturday in a collision on I-680 in Danville.
Rose was driving south on Highway 680 south of Sycamore Valley Road at 12:28 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the center median, California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel said.
Rose's vehicle, a 1999 Toyota pickup truck, overturned upon impact and came to rest partially blocking traffic. Four more vehicles then crashed into Rose's vehicle, Creel said.
At some point during the crash Rose was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Creel said.
Creel couldn't confirm if Rose was wearing a seatbelt or if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing, as they are fielding witness statements.
A representative of Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton said yesterday that Rose worked in social services in Pleasanton. He added that details about the services will be announced after the family confirms plans.
