The Parkview Assisted Living Community of Pleasanton is collecting items to send monthly "care packages" to our soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The soldiers in these forward operating bases have no access to local base exchanges for even the most menial personal things, such as hygiene items and over-the-counter medications.
With each package, The Parkview staff also sends a personalized notecard to the soldiers.
Some of the most requested or most urgent items are: baby wipes; foot powder, Chapstick, deodorant, deodorant bar soap; hand lotion; hand sanitizer; disposable razors; sunscreen; toothpaste; hand warmers; beef jerky; hard candy; snack chips; cereal bars; nuts; and trail mix.
To drop off items or for information, call 461-3042. The Parkview is located at 100 Valley Ave., Pleasanton.
