Hayashi recognized for having a 'green' local Assembly District office

Pleasanton Assemblywoman given ABAG's Green Busines Program award

State Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward), whose district includes part of Pleasanton, has been recognized by a regional planning agency for achieving green business certification for her Hayward district office, her chief of staff said.

The district office was recognized by the Association of Bay Area Governments for "outstanding accomplishments and exemplary leadership" in achieving the certification, according to chief of staff Cory Jasperson.

The Green Business Program, coordinated by the association, verifies that businesses meet higher standards of environmental performance and take steps to conserve natural resources, prevent pollution, and reduce waste.

Hayashi's district office used new appliances and office equipment to conserve energy, low-flow water faucets to conserve water, used green cleaning products, and recycled all paper and other recyclable products in the office, according to Jasperson.

Hayashi serves the 18th Assembly District, which includes most of Pleasanton and Castro Valley as well as San Leandro, Hayward and Dublin and part of Oakland.

Hayashi comes from a completely disfuntional city: Hayward. Memo to the general public - these clowns that "represent" us need to focus on real issues, like unemployment, over-regulation, taxes that are too high, public employees that are allowed way too generous retirement packages, graft and corruption in the public sector and underperforming public schools.

"Green" should be way down the list of priorities.

Not much more to say that Michael and Very Concerned said already. All these politicians are alike...they haven't a real clue about the serious issues...they are all serving us off the "Gore Hoax".

I just knew "Very Concerned" and the rest of the right-wing nutjobs would have something negative to say. Too bad you Republicans have no real power or real ideas. Sucks being you!

Yes, 'green' as in wasteful spending. New appliances and office equipment? She'll be termed out long before any meaningful power savings happen. The environment would have been better off if she had re-used equipment from downsized companies in her district. And what's with low-flow faucets? That just means staff spends more time washing their hands or filling up coffee/tea pots.

Cholo,

Whe I looked up the name "chol" this is what I found"

cholo
A cholo is term implying a Hispanic male that typically dresses in chinos (khahki pants), a wifebeater sleeveless teeshirt or a flannel shirt with only the top buttoned, a hairnet, or with a bandana around the forehead, usually halfway down over the eyes. Cholos often have black ink tattoos, commonly involving Catholic imagery, or calligraphy messages or family names.

If the shoe fits, where it.

Wendy, you're wrong. Here are a few ideas that Mary could be spending her time on,instead of making sure her office is "green":

1) Getting new businesses to locate in Pleasanton/CV/Hayward and create jobs
2) Reducing burdens and regulations on small businesses
3) Working towards structural reform in CA budget process to stop deficit spending
4) Reducing taxes on higher income small business owners and job creators
5) Reducing waste and fraud in workers comp, medical, and other wasteful government spending programs
