Pleasanton resident Debbie Look has been named the director of legislation for the California State Parent Teachers Association (PTA).
She was appointed to the two-year term to the board of directors, where Look will lead the PTA's volunteer advocates as well as relay education-related action from the legislators.
She will be one of about 15 members on the board of directors. Alison Roberts, spokeswoman for the state PTA, said people often don't realize that PTA leaders are well known in the state capital and meet frequently with the governor, superintendent of public instruction and legislators.
Look has previously served as the community concerns advocate for the California State PTA and was the president of the Pleasanton PTA Council, as well as similar posts covering Alameda County and Pleasanton schools.
She is also a member of the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation, which is working on the Firehouse Arts Center campaign, and the city's Library Commission.
