Burton & Co. livens the music scene at Friday night's Concert in the Park

Crowds fill two parks for start of Independence Day weekend fun

Crowds jammed Lions Wayside Community Park and even part of Delucchi Park across Neal Street for the near-two-hour performance Friday night by Burton & Company and its unique style of jazzy rhythm and blues.

The band was part of the summer series of Friday Night Concerts n the Park, sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association, the city of Pleasanton, local merchants and the Pleasanton Weekly. Friday night's concert also was sponsored by Pleasanton BMW, which displayed two new models of the BMW and the Mini.

Burton & Company played almost non-stop starting at 7 p.m. except for a brief time-out at 8:15 for the weekly concert drawing for prizes donated by downtown merchants.

Drawing forms can be found in the Pleasanton Weekly each Friday and forms can also be printed from the electronic edition available online at

Next Friday, the rock band Rock Explosion makes it first appearance at Concerts in the Park, playing rock hits from AC/DC, Van Halen, Journey, Led Zepplin, Foreigner, Aerosmith, Montrose, Lynrd Skynrd, Boston and more. Rock Explosion's music is suitable for all ages and the group is known for developing a great audience rapport during their performances.
