Pleasanton Military Families

Pleasanton Military Families, a support group for families of service members, meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. The group includes families who have loved ones serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the Global War on Terrorism. Meetings are held at a different group member's home each month. Call Chris Miller for information on the placement of a yellow streamer for the military person on Main Street and for information on the group, 730-1604.

I have been a member of Pleasanton Military Families Support Group since 2006 when my son, Cpl Alan Wiggins, USMC, deployed for the first time. Getting to know these wonderful people over the past few years has been a Godsend for me. As a parent of an active duty Marine, I have had my share of difficult days. I am more than grateful to have the ability to lean on some very strong, supportive shoulders to see me through them.

It has also been one of the most rewarding experiences as well as I participate in preparing troop care packages three times a year, homecomings for returning service members (these are GREAT) attend our monthly gatherings to give and receive updates of our loved ones, and just to spend time with others who have or are going through the same ups and downs of "military" life as I have.

If you have or know of someone serving in our Armed Forces, I would like to invite you to contact Chris Miller at the phone number mentioned above. You will find warm and caring people ready to welcome you at the next meeting.

Thanks Jeb and your fine crew at the Pleasanton Weekly for putting this out again. I should mention that the Weekly each week sends the current Pleasanton Weekly to our deployed members of our Armed Forces from Pleasanton--currently approximately 28 troops are on the list--thank you again for that. Also the Pleasanton Military Families Support Group (PMFSG) can be reached at PleasantonMilitaryFamilies@gmail.com and also the best way to contact me is at millercj3@gmail.com Thanks, Chris Miller, Chairman, Pleasanton Military Families Support Group.
