Sheriff's deputy injured in rollover crash on Hwy. 84

Accident reported Wednesday night at Pleasanton-Sunol Road intersection

An Alameda County sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries after his vehicle overturned in an unincorporated part of the county near Sunol Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 9:55 p.m. near the intersection of Pleasanton Sunol Road and state Highway 84, according to CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano.

The deputy's vehicle overturned in the crash, Caggiano said.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital but his injuries from the crash are believed to be minor, according to Caggiano.

Under what circumstances is a vehicle going to overturn like that?

It seems like the cop was driving a little recklessly. Maybe it was too dark for him/her?

Cellphone in one hand.. radio mike in the other.. coffee between the legs and overcorrect on a wide curve.. it's easy.

That isn't a difficult intersection. I have driven it every day for 16 years, and have never seen more than a fender-bender there. I wonder what caused this crash.
