Earthquake strikes south of Sunol regional wilderness

Measures 2.0 magnitude with center 7 miles northeast of Milpitas

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.0 struck Monday night just south of the Sunol Regional Wilderness in Alameda County.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at about 10:25 p.m. and had a depth of 5.0 miles.

The quake struck just north of the county line separating Alameda and Santa Clara counties. It was centered 7 miles northeast of Milpitas and 10 miles east-southeast of Fremont, according to the USGS.
