Police arrested two men in front of Amador Valley High School Monday morning after a nearby resident alerted them to a suspicious vehicle parked near the school.
Police said an observant Pleasanton resident noticed a suspicious vehicle parked on School Street across from the high school and reported it to the police department. A rcords check revealed the 1994 silver Volkwagen Jetta has been reported stolen in Concord March 21.
As police set up a perimeter check area, two individuals left a home in the 4100 block of School Street, got into the stolen vehicle and drove toward Santa Rita Road.
Officers stopped the vehicle on Silver Street at which time the driver ran from the car onto the school campus. Officers alreaday on the campus immediately seized the driver in front of the school.
Lt. Craig Eicher said the driver of the car, later identified as Kyle Rivas, 22, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and booked at Santa Rita jail. The car's passenger, identified only as a 16-year-old male, did not attempt to flee and also was arrested.
