Is it just me or is crime really taking off - in P-town of all places! Unfortunately as the economy tanks and the ranks of the unemployed swell, crime has historically followed.

No, it just seems that way. Crime in Pleasanton is low; no effect from the economy.

Police: Data shows little to no increase in criminal activity

Statistics rate Pleasanton as one of the safest communities in California

Our home was burglarized in November. (Surprisingly, it was never reported in the weekly. I assumed all crimes were listed. Apparently not.) Pleasanton certainly has the allusion of security.

JS,

Sorry to hear your home was burglarized in November.

Help me out, though. Are you saying that, for you, crime stats are based on what you find or don't find posted about a particular incident in the Pleasanton Weekly as opposed to actually figures provided by the police?Web Link

There are two issues here.

One is statistics, which I still have not seen. If a link or method to obtain the stats could be provided, that would be interesting.

The second issue is the reporting of criminal activity in local news papers. Regardless of the stats it seems to be under-reported.

No problem. Also, you can call the PD directly, 925-931-5100, and ask for a community resource officer who can give you or your neighborhood watch (if applicable) crime stats for your specific neighborhood.

With the economy the way it is now, this is something everyone should be expecting, but come on send the trash back over the hill where they belong! Pleasanton needs to stand strong!

Send them back to Livermore...to keep Cholo company.

At least Livermore doesn't try to maintain the myth that it is a Community of Character!!!
