American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Class

 

City of Pleasanton will offer an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Class from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, Dec. 22-Jan. 2, at the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center, 4455 Black Ave.

Cost is $165 for residents; $190 for non-residents. To register, visit the Aquatic Center office, 4455 Black Ave.; the Parks and Community Services Department office, 200 Old Bernal Ave.; mail a check to City of Pleasanton, Attn: Aquatics, P.O. Box 520; call 931-3420 or visit www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/services/recreation.

In case anyone is wondering, the age requirement for this class is 15.

$165.00 is an unreasonable price for our teens to take a class like this. Other communities provide classes like this for free or at subsidized prices to encourage teens to take it.
Pleasanton should offer this class to residents for free in the interest of public safety.
