Pleasanton police are seeking information leading to the whereabouts of a woman who may have tried to abduct a nine-year-old girl near a Pleasanton elementary school Friday afternoon.

At about 3 p.m., the Vintage Hills Elementary School student was waiting to be picked up by her mother in the 1100 block of Kottinger Drive. A woman approached the student, telling her that she had been sent by the girl’s father to pick her up, according to police. She then told the girl to get into her car, police said.

The student refused to enter the small, four-door sedan and was picked up by her mother moments later, according to police.

Officers in the area were notified of the incident and searched the neighborhood for the suspect, but did not locate the woman, police said.

The suspect is described as being about 50 years old and heavyset with shoulder-length blond or brown, curly or frizzy hair. Her vehicle is

described as an older model, gray or white four-door sedan with a rear spoiler.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5116.
