A 58-year-old grandmother of Daly City was released from the hospital and suffered one or two broken ribs, according to police, after being pinned between two cars in a parking lot on Peters Avenue, behind Bank of America. The collision happened around 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

A 51-year-old woman driving a 2007 Lexus told police she lost control when trying to park and the vehicle allegedly went over a planter median and into a 2003 Lincoln Navigator, with the grandmother stuck in between.

“[The Lexus] didn’t appear to be going fast,” said Officer Bob Leung. “It looks like she came out of the driveway over the retaining wall.”

The Lexus struck the Navigator at the rear passenger-side door. Leung said that he wouldn’t consider the damage “sizable.”

Officers said at the time the victim was tending to her two grandson, ages 3 and 6. The victim’s daughter had reportedly tried to get her mother out of the way, but had gotten her arm stuck in the collision. The daughter was able to escape, but the report said the victim was pinned between the two cars for 30 minutes.

The victim was transported to Eden Trauma Center in Castro Valley via air ambulance. The driver of the Lexus and the grandsons were not hurt. The daughter was examined by the hospital and released.
