The tea was flowing at the Pleasanton Hotel Friday afternoon, two days before Mother’s Day.

The Tri-Valley Rotary Club took 14 local senior women to the historic hotel for tea and dessert as part of their senior outreach program.

Called ELFS (Elderly Living Friendship Services), the program was started last year to develop ways to support seniors in Pleasanton, Dublin and Livermore. The program has already assisted seniors with spring house cleaning, yard maintenance and minor repairs and is now expanding to encompass social activities as well, according to Rotary President Evonne Hopkins.

The high tea event is the first one the club has held and they plan to make it an annual tradition.

The Tri-Valley Rotary Club is the newest in the area, chartered in 2002. Pleasanton is also home to the Pleasanton Rotary Club and the Pleasanton North Rotary Club.

Activities for Tri-Valley Rotary range from purchasing and serving dinner to more than 400 veterans during the East Bay Stand Down to clothing drives for homeless and needy families. They also host a bbq for those staying at the VA hospital and their families.

The club meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Girasole Grill on Santa Rita Road. For more information about the club, visit www.trivalleyrotary.org.
