Sue Rossi retiring after 31 years in public service

David P. Culver, currently the Director of Finance and Treasurer for Santa Cruz, has been named Pleasanton's new Finance Director, succeeding Sue Rossi, a 31-year veteran of public service, including the last 28 with Pleasanton.

City Manager Nelson Fialho, who made the announcement, said Rossi will remain on the staff through the end of the fiscal year on June 30 to ensure a smooth transition.

Culver brings 28 years of public service experience to Pleasanton. Besides his work for the city of Santa Cruz, he previously served as Director of Finance/Treasurer for the city of Indio, Calif. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado and a Certificate in Accounting from California State University at San Bernardino. He also served as an Adjunct Professor in the University of Colorado's Graduate School of Public Affairs at its Colorado Springs campus.

"The city was extremely fortunate to have had such a large pool of highly qualified individuals seeking the job," Fialho said. "Dave's depth of experience and sound judgment rose to the top, and I am very happy that his knowledge and skills will be used to serve the residents of Pleasanton. I look forward to working with him to build on the city's long history of financial soundness and prudent fiscal management."
