Those interested in leadership skills may want to sign up for Alameda County's 5th Leadership Academy. Five free classes emphasize development of leadership and communication skills, while giving county residents first-hand knowledge of the county.
Applications are being taken now. The Academy is open to anyone who lives, works or owns a business in Alameda County, but only 35 people will be selected. The first class is from 6-9 p.m. Jan. 18. Deadline to apply is Friday, Dec. 30.
To download an application, visit www.acgov.org. For more information, call (510) 272-6984. Those selected will represent the various geographic areas of the county and will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.
Want to keep it local? The next Leadership Pleasanton class starts next fall. To find out when applications will be available, contact the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce at 846-5858 or e-mail jenny@pleasanton.org for an application, tuition information and program details.
Leadership Pleasanton is a nine-month program that meets the first Wednesday of each a month. Up to 34 "emerging leaders" will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Run by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Pleasanton focuses on giving participants a thorough introduction to the city's various facilities, government and programs.
