(December 09, 2005) Asked downtown.
"Should Stanley 'Tookie' Williams be granted clemency?"
Jack Emmons
Longview Drive
He should not be granted clemency. I think in this case the evidence was overwhelming that he did commit the crimes. ... It's been through the appeal process and the decision should stand. People who don't feel this way should think about the victims.
Mick Scdoris
Crisfield Lane
I'm not convinced that capital punishment is the ultimate answer. The governor is in a tough situation on this one, because he comes from a party that is based on being tough on crime, but he also comes from a country that has gotten rid of capital punishment years ago.
Timothy Wolfe
Rigatti Circle
I don't think Governor Schwarzenegger should grant him clemency. I think the man has been convicted in a court of law, and nothing he has done since warrants the death penalty being overturned.
Allison Hill
Nevis Street
I don't believe he should get clemency. He didn't give clemency to the people he's convicted of murdering. I understand that he has cleaned his life up, and I do believe people can change, but he still did it.
Dee Bell
Milford Court
I don't think he should be granted clemency. I do applaud him for writing the books, taking a stand now, but he did commit the murders.
