(December 02, 2005) Three die in Thanksgiving accident
Three men from the same family died Thursday, Nov. 24 after their car ran off a private section of El Charro Road and landed in an unoccupied portion of a house, according to the California Highway Patrol. At approximately 11:30 p.m., the 1998 Lincoln Town car ran off the road after making a sharp left turn at an excessive speed, said Officer Steven Creel. The car struck a pillar, became airborne and rotated in the air before it hit the roof of a house, Creel said. No one living in the house was injured.
Joseph Ingenluyff, 21, of Stateline, Nev. was driving the vehicle and David Crevelt, 47, of Livermore and James Gurevich, 17, of Simi Valley were passengers. Crevelt was the registered owner of the vehicle, Creel said.
All three were wearing seatbelts, Creel said. CHP is unsure what caused the accident, but are focusing on the excessive speed and inspecting the vehicle equipment. The Alameda County Coroner's Office is doing a toxicology test to see if drugs or alcohol played a part in the collision.
"Due to the nature of the holiday, alcohol is a possibility, but it will be determined by the coroner's report," Creel said.
In total, there were six fatalities due to vehicle collisions on Bay Area roads during the Thanksgiving weekend. This was the same number reported last year.
