(December 02, 2005) David Michael Majors
David Michael Majors died Nov. 6 in Long Island, N.Y. at the age of 34.
He was born April 21, 1971 in Lynwood, Calif. He later moved to Carrollton, Texas and Sandy, Utah before moving back to California in 1977. He attended Fairlands Elementary and Harvest Park Middle schools and graduated from Foothill High School in 1989. He earned his associate's degree in fire science from Shasta College in Redding, Calif. He worked as a seasonal firefighter for California, fighting fires in various locations throughout the state. He later earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Chico State University in 2004. He enjoyed the outdoors, snowboarding and wilderness camping.
He is survived by his parents Frank and Margean Majors; sister Debora Majors of Rockridge, Calif.; his grandmother Margaret Rickey of Livermore; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Aldolphus Eugene Rickey and grandparents Glen and Almeda Majors.
A graveside service was held at Summit Ridge Cemetery in Dolores, Colo.
John Higuera Navarro
John Higuera Navarro died Nov. 16 at the age of 67.
He was born March 8, 1938 in El Centro, Calif. and has lived in Alameda County since 1960. He was a Pleasanton resident for five years. He was a member of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed singing, playing guitar and riding his bicycle.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Juanita Lambert; daughters Zanera Navarro of Chowchilla, Calif. and John Navarro of Oxnard, Calif.; sisters Angie Navarro of Livermore, Mary Hernandez of Calexico, Calif. and Katy Nikitas of Blythe, Calif.; brothers Manual Navarro and Angelo Nikitas of Oxnard, Ramon Navarro of Blythe and David Navarro of Livermore; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held by Callaghan Mortuary with burial at Palo Verde Cemetery in Blythe.
Kathleen Mackay
Kathleen Mackay, a Pleasanton resident for 57 years, died Nov. 18 at the age of 85.
She was born May 25, 1920 in Oakland and was raised in the Bay Area. She was a member of the Livermore chapter of the Sirettes.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, James Faulkner; daughter Maureen Mackay Taylor of Pleasanton; sisters Helen Fuller, Patricia Glasyo and Mary Hornberger; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Callaghan Mortuary with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Livermore. Donations may be made to the KGO Radio Bernie Ward Thanksgiving Fund, 900 Front St., San Francisco, CA 94111.
Willa Gustafson
Willa Gustafson, a Pleasanton resident for 30 years, died Nov. 20 in her Pleasanton home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 10, 1925 in Renfrow, Okla. She later lived in Yucaipa and Calimesa, Calif. before moving to Pleasanton. She earned her Business certificate from Metropolitan College in Los Angeles and later was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Church in Pleasanton. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, camping, motor homing, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gus Gustafson; son Larry Gustafson of Tracy; daughter Carol Wyatt of Hayward; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services were held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary with burial at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Fremont.
