Teens injured in park brawl Teens injured in park brawl (November 04, 2005)

Nearly 40 teens gathered at Amador Valley Park Halloween night to watch a fight between two Pleasanton teen boys that turned into a six-on-four melee and involved one teen using a tree branch as a weapon, said School Resource Officer Mike Steiner. The fight was a continuation of a confrontation that occurred Sunday night when one of the boys vandalized the other's car and later made plans to "settle the score," Steiner said.

It is unclear at this point what caused the initial act of vandalism, but police have ruled out gang activity and racial tension as causes. The teens involved in the fight, all between the ages of 15-18, were students at Amador Valley High School with one from Foothill High School and two from Village, Steiner said. Two of the teens were taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley because they incurred head injuries and are currently in stable condition, Steiner said. Five teens were initially detained in the incident and three were taken in on charges of assault, but two were later released, Steiner said.
