(October 28, 2005) PPIE raises $70,000
Pleasanton Partnership In Education Foundation raised $70,000 for Pleasanton schools with its "Bon Appetit - A Grand Culinary Affaire" event Oct. 8 at the Senior Center. Eighteen teams made up of corporate, community and school district members whipped up culinary specials and paired wines from different countries or regions. The funds raised will go to support programs at various school sites. Teachers and students in the school district can receive PPIE funding by applying for grants through the organization. Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is wrapping up today in district schools. The goal of the week is to encourage children to choose lives free of drug and substance abuse. The week is a national event and has traditionally been held during the fourth week of October. The Pleasanton Police Department works with the schools to fund and run the event with activities planned at all the schools in the district, including visits from the canine officers and assemblies lead by DARE officers.
Realtors raise money for schools
Tri-Valley Realtors raised more than $38,000 for Tri-Valley schools at the "Realtors Getting Real about Schools" fundraiser Sept. 9 at Castlewood Country Club. Realtors raised money by serving guests at the club, collecting tips for their services. All proceeds will be donated to the Pleasanton, Dublin and Livermore school districts.
ValleyCare Auxiliary Christmas Boutiques
ValleyCare Medical Center's Auxiliary is offering holiday gifts and a large selection of baked goods and candy from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday Nov. 4 in the hospital's main lobby, 555 W. Las Positas Blvd. The event will be repeated from 7-4 p.m. Friday Nov. 11 at LifeStyleRx in Livermore. LifeStyleRx is located at 1133 Stanley Blvd.
