(October 28, 2005) Drum set stolen while victim is at home
An unknown suspect entered an open garage around 9:30 a.m., Oct. 22 in the 3800 block of Vineyard Ave. and stole an electronic drum set while the victim was at home, police said. The drum set is valued at $6,300, according to the victim.
The victim was in his garage with the door open when he heard the telephone ring. While running to get the phone, the victim said he hit the garage door remote to close the door, but when he came downstairs later that day he found the door was still open. His moving blanket and a thermal blanket were on the floor and his drum set was missing. Nothing else was disturbed in the garage and there were no fingerprints, police said.
One neighbor said she had heard a loud vehicle in the neighborhood around the time of the theft, according to police. The victim said he had also heard a vehicle idling outside his house, but did not get up to look out the window. Police are investigating the case and currently have no suspects.
Crime prevention key
Of the property crimes committed in the month of July, 22 percent could have been prevented by taking precautionary measures such as locking vehicle and residence doors and leaving valuable items out of view, according to a recent update from the Crime Prevention Unit of the police department. The police department is reminding everyone to put in the effort and take crime prevention steps to keep these "crimes of opportunity" from happening. Incidences of graffiti have also increased throughout Pleasanton, according the report. Anyone who sees graffiti happening or notices it around town can call the Graffiti Tip Line at 484-8380.
