(September 02, 2005) Roy Bowman
Roy Bowman, a Pleasanton resident for 19 years, died June 30 at the age of 87.
He was born March 11, 1918 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. and previously lived in Oakland for 40 years. He worked as a mechanical engineer with the Moore Business forms in Oakland. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry, fishing and reading.
He is survived by his sons Eric Bowman and his wife Janet of Pleasanton, Peter Bowman and his wife Tari of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Robin Bowman of Healdsburg, Calif. and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, June Goppert Bowman.
Memorial services were held at the Valley Christian Center in Dublin.
Linewood LeBoeuf Clark
Linewood LeBoeuf Clark died August 8 at the age of 98.
He was born July 12, 1907 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Huntington Park, Calif. in 1922 with his parents where he attended Huntington Park High School and UC LA. He transferred to UC Berkeley in 1928 to continue his studies in civil engineering and graduated in 1930. After graduation, he worked for the Bureau of Public Roads in the San Francisco office as a civil engineer. He took time off for military service and was stationed at McClellan Field and Travis Air Force Base during WW II and Elmendorf Air Force Base during the Korean War. He retired from federal service and the military in 1967.
After retirement, he traveled the world with his wife of 67 years, Katherine, and their last big tour was a cruise through the Panama Canal for their 60th wedding anniversary. He and his wife were also active in the Kiwanis Club, ballroom dancing and other activities.
He is survived by son Dick Clark and his wife Judy of Pleasanton; daughter Betty Halberg and her husband John of Port Angeles, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine who died in 1995.
A mass was celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Chapel.
Helen Duray Carano
Helen Duray Carano died August 11 at the age of 81.
She was born September 24, 1924 in New Jersey and lived in Sparks, Nev. for 17 years. She is remembered for being an accomplished cook and was a member of United Methodist Church in Matawan, N.J.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Aldo Carano of Pleasanton; son Richard Carano and his wife Kathy Brown of San Ramon; and sisters Dorothy Ringsdorf of Florida, N.Y. and Eleanor Simmons of Englishtown, N.J.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Carano.
Funeral services were held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore.
